Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesian rescuers said on November 25 thatthey are searching for seven sailors of a cargo ship that sank in waters offBali resort island.
KM Multi Prima One cargo ship heading to Waingapu town of East NusaTenggara province capsized in Bali Gulf after leaving waters off Surabaya, theprovincial capital of East Java province, said Yusuf Latief, head ofcommunication for media of the national search and rescue office.
Seven out of 14 crewmembers remain missing and now the search operationto recover them is getting underway, he said.
The search operation is being carried out at the radius of 200 nauticalmiles from the site of the sea incident, said Latief.
The seven other crewmembers who survived the incident were rescued byanother ship which was passing by the spot.
Sea water transport is a favorite transport means in Indonesia, a vastarchipelagic country home to over 17,500 islands. A lack of safety standard hasoften triggered sea incidents.-VNA
