Seventh talk round on sea area off Gulf of Tonkin held

The working groups on the sea area beyond the mouth of the Gulf of Tokin and cooperation in less sensitive maritime issues between Vietnam and China convened the seventh round of talks in Hanoi from June 3-4.

The two sides agreed to urge technicalexperts to discuss specific plans for a joint survey slated for thisyear as agreed earlier.

About cooperation inless-sensitive areas, they consented to jointly study the management ofsea and island environment in the Gulf of Tonkin, and Holocene sedimentsin Red River Delta and Chang Jiang River Delta. They also agreed todiscuss the draft agreement on search and rescue at sea.

On June 4, Deputy Foreign Minister and head of a governmental-leveldelegation of Vietnam-China territorial border negotiations hosted areception for Chinese counterparts.-VNa
