Moscow (VNA) – The 7th international meeting of senior security officials took place in Russia on May 24-25.
Minister of Public Security To Lam led a Vietnamese delegation to the event.
Participants from over 70 countries around the world discussed how to ensure security, peace and stability in various regions.
The discussions focused on counteracting extremism and terrorism, security in the context of increased migration, and building an international information security system.
Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council Nikolai Patrushev stressed the importance of setting up a large-scale anti-terrorism front based on international law and coordinated by the United Nations.
Addressing the event, Minister of Public Security To Lam presented his report on preventing illegal immigration.
He said Vietnam once struggled with illegal immigration but the country handled this issue effectively and received international recognition.
He shared with the international community the causes of illegal immigration and ways to prevent it.
Lam also had bilateral meetings with several security leaders to discuss regional and global security.-VNA
