HCM City (VNA) – Women’s role in the ASEANCommunity building and post-COVID-19 recovery was highlighted at aninternational seminar in Ho Chi Minh City on March 11.
The seminar was jointly held by the Centre for ASEANHuman Resources Research and Training at the University of Social Sciences andHumanities under the Vietnam National University HCM City, the Vietnam-ASEANFriendship Association (VAFA) and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations(VUFO) in HCM City.
In her remarks, VAFA President Phan Thi Hong Xuanstressed ASEAN leaders’ commitments to promoting gender equality and improvingwomen’s role in the ASEAN Community building.
Sok Dareth, Cambodian Consul General in HCM City, describedwomen’s role and contributions as the key to maintaining socio-economicdevelopment, peace and security in the region.
Meanwhile, Wong Chiann, Malaysian Consul General in HCM City, emphasisedthe 2025 Community Vision 2025 that targets an inclusive community and equalopportunities for all people, and protects and promotes women’s rights.
The participants also looked into women’s role in businessand production, as well as opportunities and challenges facing them in economicintegration and post-pandemic recovery./.
