Consumption trends in the food and beverage industry in Asia and the world at large were the main topic of a seminar held by the Business Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Products in Hanoi on June 20.

HCM City (VNA) – Consumption trends in the food andbeverage industry in Asia and the world at large were the main topic of aseminar held by the BusinessAssociation of High-Quality VietnameseProducts in Hanoi on June 20.

Vu Kim Hanh, Chairwoman of the association, saidVietnamese businesses participated in Sial China 2019 – the largest food andbeverage expo in Asia – from May 14-16, and Thaifex 2019 – a food and beveragetrade show in Bangkok, Thailand, from May 28 to June 1.

The two exhibitions showed that new products haveformed the new trend of the food and beverage industry in Asia and the world aswell, she said.

Many multi-national companies and big groups inthe sector are using new technologies to create environmental friendlyproducts, contributing to easing waste.

Consumers are paying more attention to nutritionin products, which is one of the reasons that have prompted startups in theindustry to step up their production and improve their competiveness.

More startups have invested in food and beveragesof local origin in order to satisfy the taste of young consumers, she said.

Regarding export activities, Nguyen Lam Vien,General Director of Vinamit JSC that specialises in dried fruits, suggestedenterprises sell their products through modern retail channels and distributionnetworks to access foreign markets and consumers.

He took the Chinese market as an example thataccommodates more than 10,000 supermarkets, 50 retail platforms and 50,000convenient stores.

According to Ngo Dinh Dung, a market expert, foodand beverage startup ecosystems have been established in many countries todevelop dietary food.

Such ecosystems will help small-and medium-sizedenterprises further their reach in the international market sustainably, hesaid, stressing products that meet requirements of packaging, food safety andhygiene, origin and logistics will win the heart of global consumers.-VNA
