Participants discussed the buildingof a connectivity network of education for the disabled, improving professionalcompetence, and raising public awareness of eliminating discrimination againstthe disabled in education activities.
Chief Secretary of the SteeringCommittee for Educating Disabled and Poor Children Nguyen Thi Quy Suu presenteda plan on educating the disabled for the 2018-2020 period with a view to improvingeducation for the disabled and ensuring their access to quality, fair andfriendly education.
During the period, at least 70percent of disabled people at school age will access quality, fair and friendlyeducation while at least half of managerial staff and teachers will receivetraining in the field.
At the same time, up to 40percent of centrally-run cities and provinces will have support centres forintegrated education development and all centrally-run cities and provinceswill follow legal regulations on education for the disabled.
Last year, a number oforganisations actively offered suggestions to build important projects andcirculars on education for the disabled. The UNICEF, the Catholic ReliefServices, the Medical Committee Netherlands – Vietnam are helping the Ministryof Education and Training improve comprehensive education for the disabled.-VNA
