Vietnamese and Danish lawmakers have discussed the role of the media in legislative activities at a seminar in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.

The December 17-18 event is the joint effortof the Vietnam National Assembly’s Office and the Danish Parliament’sOffice.

In his opening remarks, Nguyen Hanh Phuc, head ofthe Vietnam NA Office, described press agencies as an important bridgebringing the legislature’s information to the public while reflectingpeople’s opinions and aspirations to lawmakers.

Not allvoters have the chance to keep a close watch on legislative activities,he said, adding that the press are an effective means of transmission.

Phuc attributed the legislature’s successes to contributionsmade by press agencies, which have created a forum for the public tomonitor the NA’s activities.

At the seminar, Vietnamese andDanish legislators also touched upon public relations work at theVietnam NA Office and shared experience in working with the press.

Klaus Hoekkerup, a former Danish parliamentarian, underlined the needfor NA deputies to cooperate with the press to carry politicalinformation to the public.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
