Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) organised aseminar on technology demand of the business community in Hanoi on January 13,in order to help with the building of a Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science andTechnology (V-KIST).
The V-KISTis a joint project between the two governments, aiming to boost sci-techresearch and application in Vietnam.
KumDonghwa, a representative from the Korea Institute of Science and Technology(KIST) shared experience in the operation of the KIST and affirmed that theinstitute will support Vietnam in building the Vietnam-Korea Institute ofScience and Technology.
Nguyen DinhHau, Director of the Department of Science and Technology forEconomic-Technical Branches, said the V-KIST is expected to addresstechnological issues facing Vietnamese firms.
Hau said there is a large gap in technology developmentbetween Vietnamese enterprises and their international peers, adding that mostof advanced technologies available in the country concentrate in theforeign-funded sector.
According to Nguyen Anh Dung, deputy head of the MoST’s support centre for technologytransfer, sectors that have highest demand for technological improvementinclude agricultural produce processing and mechanics.-VNA
