Atan investment seminar focusing on green growth held in the province onJune 23, local authorities expected to promote initiatives andstrategies on green growth applicable in Quang Nam in associationwith neighbouring provinces.

Major investment opportunities,especially in developing green urban areas, industries and eco-tourism,were introduced to donors, development organisations and potentialinvestors during the event, which was jointly organised by theprovincial People’s Committee and the UN Human Settlements Programme(UN-Habitat).

Under the National Strategy on Green Growth forthe 2011-2020 period, with a vision to 2050, Quang Nam hasimplemented its own development strategy, focusing on local economicgrowth, natural resource management, climate change adaptation andsocial equality.

Speaking at the function, National AssemblyVice Chairman Huynh Ngoc Son urged the province to speed upadministrative reforms and create favourable conditions for theinvestors to inject funds into green growth-oriented development.

Most importantly, economic development should align with theefficient use of natural resources, environmental protection and socialequality, he said.

According to Le Phuoc Thanh, Chairman ofthe provincial People’s Committee, in a bid to fulfil its goals thelocality is working hard to create concrete investment opportunities.
