SE Asia largest market of Vietnam’s fertilizer

Southeast Asia has become the largest market of Vietnam’s fertilizer, according to statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Hanoi (VNA) – Southeast Asia hasbecome the largest market of Vietnam’s fertilizer, according to statistics ofthe General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Inthe first eight months of 2018, Vietnam shipped total 611,500 tonnes offertilizer of all types abroad, contributing 200.6 million USD to the country’soverall export turnover. 

Vietnam exported 56,600 tonnes of fertilizer inAugust, earning 19.7 million USD, declining 27.2 percent in volume and 28.1percent in value month-on-month. 

The Southeast Asia market purchased 68.1 percentof Vietnam’s total exported fertilizer in the first eight months of the year,down 1.38 percent in volume but up 10.76 percent in value year-on-year.

In August alone, Vietnam shipped 40,600 tonnesof fertilizer to the market, raking in 14 million USD. The figures represent adecrease of 15.09 percent in volume and 13.78 percent in value compared to theprevious month. 

Major markets of Vietnam’s fertiliser in 2017were Cambodia, Malaysia and the Republic of Korea. Cambodia was the leadingmarket that bought 69.5 percent of Vietnam’s total exported fertilizer, or328,600 tonnes worth 104.9 million USD, up 53.87 percent in volume and 54.7percent in value compared to 2016.

Other markets of Vietnamese fertilizer includeLaos, the Philippines, Thailand, Japan and Angola.-VNA
