Da Nang (VNA) – More than 5,000households in the central and Central Highlands regions have installed roof-topsolar power systems with a totalcapacity of 150 MWp, generating 85.46 million kWh of electricity to thenational grid.
With more average daily sun hours than other regions in Vietnam, the regionsboast huge potential to develop home-based roof-top solar projects.
Vietnam Electricity(EVN)'s Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) has been promoting Government policies related tosolar power development, and encouraging customers to install roof-top solarpower systems.
It has also issued regulations and guidelines in order to create favourableconditions for signing electricity purchase contracts with households which areinvesting in the field.
According to the EVN, power consumptionnationwide in March increased by 8.55 percent over the same period last year.Two economic hubs – Hanoi and HCM City – had 17 percent and 13 percent rises,respectively.
The Prime Minister recently issued Decision13/2020 / QD-TTg for an incentive programme to encourage the development ofsolar energy in Vietnam
It offers a buyback rate for photovoltaic roof-topcells at 1,943 VND (0.0935 USD) per KWh for all solar power projects. Thedecision has earned confidence and encouraged solar power investors during theCOVID-19 pandemic.
Since 2017, with the issuance of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s Decision11/2017/ QD-TTg, solar power projects have been allowed to sellelectricity at that fixed price./.
