Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong is not only the Vietnamese top leader but also a witted politician with global influence, writer Cho Chul-hyeon from the Republic of Korea (RoK), the first in the world to pen a book exclusively on the leader, told the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

Upon hearing of his passing, US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin sent condolences while General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping came to the Vietnamese Embassy in China to pay tribute to the Vietnamese leader, the writer highlighted, saying this showed the deceased's contributions to the world.

Cho wrote in a note of his 420-page book, titled "General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong", started in 2022 and released in May this year on the occasion of the 80th birthday of the Vietnamese leader, that looking at what General Secretary Trong did, one can see the future of Vietnam since he well combined and maintained the theory of Communism with the benefits of the market-oriented economy that helps Vietnam reach out to the world.

On Trong's role in the Vietnamese Party, State and people, he stressed that throughout his life, the leader strived for the country's prosperity and the position of the Vietnamese people and nation. Since joining the Party in December 1967, Trong has devoted the whole of his life to the Party building, following the Party's ideology, and shouldering every assignment by the Party.

Particularly impressed by the Party chief who paid an official trip to the RoK in 2014 to establish important bases for the future bilateral cooperation, the writer told the VNA that he decided to study more about the Vietnamese leader through various sources like the Vietnamese Embassy, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, the Internet, and even the places where General Secretary Trong had visited.

Cho chronicles the stories about General Secretary Trong, from his childhood to the time he held various important positions in the National Assembly and the Party.

His books focuses on the three main contents, namely the bamboo diplomacy, the fight against corruption, and the maintenance of policies to persist communism and gain benefits from the market economy at the same time

The book has received enthusiastic response from readers who find it interesting to get a better insight into Vietnam and its leader.

Most recently, a RoK tourism centre contacted him to get his consultation to set up a tour to Vietnam's destinations with close relations to the Party chief.

The VNA has bought the copyright to publish the book in both Vietnamese and Korean in the time to come. The publication of the book is expected to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two nations

Cho expressed his hope that his book will continue getting warm welcome from Vietnamese readers./.
