Seoul (VNA) – Foreign Ministers ofthe Republic of Korea (RoK) and Singapore on May 14 vowed to work together tosupport the upcoming summit between the US and the Democratic People’s RepublicKorea (DPRK) in the Southeast Asian country.
RoK Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha and herSingaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan held phone talks ahead of the June12 summit between US President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un.
The ministers shared the view that the US –DPRK Summit will serve as a crucial opportunity for the DPRK's denuclearisationand the establishment of peace on the Korean peninsula and beyond.
During their talks, Kang explained Seoul'songoing policy efforts for the complete denuclearisation and a lasting peace onthe peninsula, as well as the process of how Seoul prepared for the summitbetween RoK President Moon Jae-in and Kim in April.
At their summit in Singapore, Trump and Kimare expected to discuss the method and timeline of the DPRK's denuclearisationprocess, which Seoul hopes to help bring about a lasting peace on the dividedpeninsula.-VNA
