RoK parliament leader visits Vietnam

Speaker of RoK’s National Assembly Chung Ui-Hwa arrived in Hanoi on Mar 17.
Speaker of the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s National Assembly (NA) ChungUi-Hwa arrived in Hanoi on March 17 to begin his five-day visit toVietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.

The guest was accompanied by parliamentarians from the Saenuri rulingparty, including Park Dae Dong from the national policy committee; ParkSeong Ho and Yi Wan Young from the committee of infrastructure andtransport; and Yun Jae Ok from the committee of culture, education,sports, and tourism.

Vietnam and the RoK elevated theirrelationship to a strategic cooperative partnership in 2009 which hassince reaped benefits in various fields, especially in trade andinvestment.

According to recent data from the RoK, the countrybecame Vietnam 's largest foreign investor last year in terms of bothcapital value and number of projects.

Vietnam is amanufacturing hub for the RoK with more than 4,000 Korean firms,including big corporations such as Samsung Electronics, POSCO Steel, LGelectronics, Hyundai Heavy Industries and SK Energy.

Bilateraltrade reached 30.3 billion USD in 2014, making the RoK Vietnam'sthird-largest trading partner, after China and the US.-VNA
