RoK-ASEAN cooperation forum opens

The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences in conjunction with the Korea Foundation and Seoul National University held the seventh RoK-ASEAN Cooperation Forum from August 29-30 in Hanoi.
The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences inconjunction with the Korea Foundation and Seoul National Universityheld the seventh RoK-ASEAN Cooperation Forum from August 29-30 in Hanoi.


The two-day forum,themed “A better world in diversification”, was an activity to mark 20years of the establishment of Vietnam-Republic of Korea (RoK)diplomatic ties. It aims to strengthen multi-faceted cooperation betweenthe RoK and Vietnam as well as other countries in the Associationof Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

During the event, officials, diplomats and scholars from theRoK and ASEAN member countries discussed issues of common concern inEast Asia including sustainable growth and sustainable development,migration, regional security and cultural exchange.

In a session on the RoK-ASEAN development cooperation, Vietnamese andthe RoK scholars affirmed that green growth is a new direction ofdevelopment and a new channel of cooperation between Vietnam and theRoK. The scholars also put forward proposals to boost the RoK-ASEANstrategic partnership.-VNA
