Hanoi (VNA) – The central province of Thua Thien-Hue on July 23presented the “Vietnamese Heroic Mother” title to 17 local women whose husbandsand children laid down their lives in the struggle for national liberation anddefence.

On the occasion of the 72nd VietnamWar Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27), the province also granted IndependenceOrder to seven families who had great contributions to the revolutionary cause.

Chairman of the provincial People’s CommitteePhan Ngoc Tho expressed gratitude for the sacrifices by the heroic mothers andrevolution contributors.

To date, the province has 2,366 heroicmothers.

On this occasion, the central province ofHa Tinh also conferred the title to 15 local women, bringing the total number ofwomen receiving this honour to over 2,000.

Meanwhile, to support policy beneficiariesand revolution contributors, so far this yar, the southern province of TienGiang has built and repaired a total of 223 houses, of which 165 have beenhanded over to the needy on the occasion of 72nd Vietnam WarInvalids and Martyrs’ Day.

According to the local Department ofLabour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Tien Giang has mobilised 5.3 billionVND (227,600 USD) in the period to support policy beneficiaries, and istargeting 10 billion VND for the whole year.-VNA
