Regulation outlines responsibilities of anti-corruption inspectors

Permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Tran Quoc Vuong has signed to promulgate the Politburo’s Regulation No.1 outlining responsibilities and jurisdictions of inspection commissions from district-level and higher in combating and preventing corruption.

Hanoi (VNA) –
Permanent member of theSecretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Tran Quoc Vuonghas signed to promulgate the Politburo’s Regulation No.1 outliningresponsibilities and jurisdictions of inspection commissions fromdistrict-level and higher in combating and preventing corruption.

According to the regulation, any Party memberwho commits wrongdoings and is involved in corruption will be reviewed,questioned and punished in accordance with the Party code and existing laws, nomatter what their position is.

There is no forbidden zone in the fight againstcorruption.

Party members and organisations that were deemedto have condoned, covered up, obstructed or illicitly interfered with theinvestigation of corruption cases will be strictly dealt with.

The inspection commissions are asked to ensuretransparency and verification of asset disclosure of Party members, withinspection results being public on mass media. 

Increased surveillance will be exercised overParty members whose assets and income are questioned by the public, theregulation reads.

The commissions now have the rights to demandParty members not to leave the country or if necessary, ask concernedauthorities to reinforce temporary travel bans against Party members stainedwith corruption allegations who showed hints of attempting to flee the country.

They can also inquire law enforcementauthorities to carry out asset distraints, asset freezing and other necessarymeasures as prescribed by the law in case the Party members under investigationtries to disperse or hide their assets.

Party members involved in corruption, but notyet admissible to criminal punishments, could face administrative fines,demotion or being moved to other positions.-VNA
