Hanoi (VNA) - Rescuers are racing against the clock to find people missingfrom flash floods and landslides that hit Nam Tra My district in central QuangNam province on October 28.
According to Vice Chairman of the provincialPeople’s Committee Ho Quang Buu, 55 members of 15 households were buried in thelandslides, two more than initially thought.
As of noon on October 30, 33 people had beenrescued, while the bodies of eight had been recovered and 14 others were stillmissing.
Specialised equipment and sniffer dogs havebeen deployed to search for the missing. More military personnel from othercommunes in the district will be deployed to the site.
Search and rescue forces are exerting every effortto rescue more than 200 workers stranded at the Dak Mi 2 Hydro-power Plant inQuang Nam.
Meanwhile, the neighbouring province of QuangNgai is mobilising all resources to help locals stabilise their lives after StormMolave made landfall in the province two days ago.
The strong storm left 13 people injured, broughtdown 169 houses, and blew away nearly 85,000 roofs./.
