Quang Tri (VNA) - The remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificedtheir lives in Laos during wartime were laid to rest at the Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery in the central province of Quang Tri on May 5.
The 16 sets of remains and those found in a mass grave in the Lao province of Savannakhetwere repatriated in the 2019-2020 dry season by Team 584 under the MilitaryCommand of Quang Tri.
This is the 34th time Quang Tri has received, commemorated, andreburied remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts since 1993.
Speaking at the reburial ceremony, a representative from the Quang Tri provincialPeople’s Committee underlined that the local Party Committee,authorities and people will continue their efforts to promote development and reinforcethe relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
In recent years, the local administration has cooperatedwith Lao localities to search for and repatriate thousands of remains ofVietnamese martyrs, contributing to easing their families’ pain and suffering./.
