Quang Tri (VNA) – The centralprovince of Quang Tri has approved investment plans for four wind and two solarpower projects, whose costs amount to more than 7.4 trillion VND (319.1 millionUSD).
Among these projects are Gio Thanh EnergyJSC’s 50 MW Gio Thanh 1 solar electricity plant, which spans 65 ha in Gio Linhdistrict’s Gio Thanh commune. The investment is estimated to exceed 1.1trillion VND (47.4 million USD).
Meanwhile, SECO JSC has been given approvalto carry out the 50 MW Gio Thanh 2 solar power plant project. The plant,covering 60 ha in Gio Linh’s Gio Thanh and Gio Hai communes, will be built at acost of some 1.1 trillion VND.
Local authorities have also allowed theconstruction of the Huong Phung 3 wind power plant in Huong Hoa district. TheHuong Phung wind power limited company plans to build the 30 MW facility on 9ha of land, with investment exceeding 1.58 trillion VND (68.12 million USD).
GELEX Quang Tri Energy JSC was alsopermitted to invest nearly 3.66 trillion VND (157.38 million USD) into GELEX 1,2 and 3 wind power plants, with capacity of 30 MW each. The projects will coversome 24 ha in Huong Hoa and Dakrong districts.
Energy development is a priority in QuangTri, with wind power projects mostly located in the western mountainous areaand solar power ones on coastal sand dunes.
The province has zoned off three key areasfor wind power, which cover more than 6,700 ha. Its total wind electricityoutput is expected to reach 800 MW in the near future with the operation offour more plants.
Three solar projects are underway in QuangTri at the moment, with the first solar power plant of the province expected tobe fully operational by the end of June.-VNA
