Quang Ninh (VNA) – Northern Quang Ninh province, which is home to world heritage site Ha Long bay, has worked with Swiss company Mister Loo AG on a plan to build environmentally-friendly public toilets in an effort to protect people’s health and the environment.
At their working session on September 8, provincial authorities suggested the pilot construction of the first eight public toilets, each costing between 25,000 USD and 40,000 USD, which is to be covered by private investments.
The first toilets are planned to be located in Ha Long, Uong Bi, Cam Pha and Mong Cai, using environmentally-friendly wastewater treatment technology. After a trial run, the model will be replicated in other localities in the province.
Mister Loo AG pledged that the public facility will have Swiss construction standards and quality and advanced wastewater treatment technology and will be friendly to the environment and people.
It was asked to consider the use of materials available in the locality to reduce construction cost.
Before Quang Ninh, Hanoi adopted the construction of 1,000 public toilets to serve the local populace and tourists visiting the city given a shortage of public toilets for years, while the existing ones are poorly maintained.
