Quang Ninh (VNA) –Thenorthern province of Quang Ninh is aiming to expand its Gross RegionalDomestic Product (GRDP) growth rate by12.54 percent in QII, thus realising its economic growthtarget of 10.25 percent in HI.
According to Vice Chairman of theprovincial People’s Committee Cao Tuong Huy, the first six months of this year is a favourabletime for the locality to speed up all sectors, especially tourism and service.
The locality sets for its industry –construction, service, and agro-forestry-aquaculture to grow by 10.88 percent,11.41 percent and 3.79 percent, respectively, in HI.
To that end, the provincial People’sCommittee has directed relevant departments, sectors and localities to concertedly deploy solutions to help businesses, especially processing and manufacturing firms,address difficulties, thus stabilising their production and business.
Attention has been paid toaccelerating the disbursement of public investment in constriction,and inspection and evaluation of the progress of projects and works.
With the resumption of tourism activities from March 15, the provincial tourismindustry expects to serve 1.8 million visitors in the second quarter.
The locality will focus onorganising tourism promotion and connection programmes in Ho Chi Minh City andthe central city of Da Nang, and cooperating with economic corporations andairlines in order to further promote Quang Ninh tourism in key markets such asChina, the Republic of Korea, Japan and Thailand.
With economic development solutions inresponse to the COVID-19 pandemic, Quang Ninh’s GRDP increased by 8.02 percentin in the first quarter of 2022. Meanwhile, the State budget revenue hit nearly12 trillion VND (over 524.8 million USD), equal to 23 percent of the estimate.
The province is viewed as a strategic destination in northern Vietnam and an important link in the northern economic growth triangle of Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh.
It looks to become a province with modern services and industry, as well as one of the dynamic and comprehensive development hubs in the northern region.
Among the targets for 2021 - 2025 set by its People’s Council, Quang Ninh aims at an annual GRDP growth of 10 percent and per capita GRDP surpassing 10,000 USD by 2025. The poverty rate will be reduced by an average 0.08 percent each year.
Also in 2025, industry - construction is to account for 49-50 percent of the local economy, services 46 - 47 percent and agro-forestry-fisheries 3 - 5 percent.
Quang Ninh will strive to maintain its place among the top localities in terms of the provincial competitiveness index, administrative reform index, and provincial governance and public administration performance index.
The provincial People’s Council also outlined five key groups of tasks and solutions to realise the set targets. Accordingly, the province will accelerate the implementation of the three strategic breakthroughs, mobilise all resources, and diversify forms of investment for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development.
Quang Ninh will push ahead with the renewal of growth model, economic restructuring, and the shift from a “brown” (coal-based) to a “green” economy.
n addition, efforts are being made to carry out a series of tourism promotion programmes and high-quality tourism projects to turn itself into a four-season wonder.
According to Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tuong Van, Quang Ninh holds great potential to develop diverse tourism forms thanks to beautiful landscapes with over 2,077 islands in different sizes and shapes together with 632 landscape and relic sites, and especially Ha Long Bay - a UNESCO-recognised World Natural Heritage Site. It is the only locality with land and sea border lines with China and an important gateway to China and ASEAN countries.
Van said that Quang Ninh is focusing on renovating the methods of mobilising and connecting resources, creating a linkage among roads, airports and ports to serve the development of the tourism sector.
Alongside, it is working to speed up administrative reform and improve its business and investment environment to lure more strategic investors, with priority to those who can create new and unique tourism products, he added./.
