Quang Ninh sets tasks for development

The northern province of Quang Ninh has outlined a number of measures to drive its socio-economic development during the second half of the year.

The provincial People’s Council met on July 16-19to discuss the obstacles blocking development and the solutions requiredto tackle them.

In the past six months, Quang Ninh’s economyexpanded an estimated 6.5 percent, a figure which authorities said canbe bettered in the remaining part of the year.

The councilinstructed that between July and December, provincial departments shouldcontinue to clear business difficulties, especially in the coal sector,while working harder to detect cases of tax evasion. They should alsotry to attract more investment and move more government proceduresonline.

More focus will be placed on building new rural areas and cracking down on illegal coal mining and transport.

The council adopted a resolution on incentives for investment in industrial and economic zones.
 
At the meeting, the deputies also cast their confidence votes on 14positions elected by the People’s Council. All the position holders gotan approval rate at more than 50 percent of the votes.-VNA
