The7.2-magnitude quake left hundreds of other injured and affectedmillions of people, according to the Philippine National Disaster RiskReduction and Management Council.

It also destroyed architectural work, including the country’s oldest church Cebu’s Basilica Minore del Santo Nino.

Thequake struck in the morning near Balilihan town on Bohol island, at adepth of 20km, according to t he US Geological Survey. The Hawaii-basedPacific Tsunami Warning Centre did not issue a Pacific-wide tsunamiwarning.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
