Public Security Ministry: 39 dead victims in Essex lorry are Vietnamese

The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and UK police announced on November 7 that all 39 victims found dead in a container truck in Essex, the northeast of London, UK on October 23, are Vietnamese.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Ministry of PublicSecurity and UK police announced on November 7 that all 39 victims found deadin a container truck in Essex, the northeast of London, UK on October 23, areVietnamese.

The Ministry of Public Security said the victims were from HaiPhong, Hai Duong, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Thua Thien – Hue.

The ministry expressed profound condolences to families of thevictims, and affirmed that Vietnamese competent agencies are working closely withthe UK authorities to conduct citizen protection measures and promptly investigatethe case.

The Vietnamese Embassy in the UK also issued a statementexpressing deep sorrow at the news and extended sympathy to the victims’families.

The embassy pledged to coordinate with the Governmentdelegation now working in the UK and relevant agencies of both Vietnam and theUK to help the families take the victims’ remains home at the earliestpossible.
