Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam plans that by2020, at least 92 percent of five-year-old children will be able to accesskindergarten education.
This is one of the targets of the Project ofPreschool Education Development in the 2018-2025 period, which has been approvedby Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
The project aims to develop a system ofkindergartens that is suitable to the socio-economic conditions of differentprovinces and cities and meets schooling needs of children.
Under the project, child care will be improvedso that it meets international preschool education norms towards internationalintegration. The project will also better prepare children to enter primaryschool.
The project should ensure that by 2020 the rateof underweight malnourished children will decrease by 0.3 percent per year,while the rate of malnutrition that stunts child growth will decrease by 0.2 percentper year. At least 70 percent of teachers in kindergartens will have collegequalifications.
Another target of the projects is that at least42 percent of kindergartens reach national norms by 2020. From 2021 to 2025, the project aims to make sure95 percent of five-year-old children can access schooling and at least 50 percentof kindergartens reach national standards.
The project will use different measures such ascompleting policies related to preschool education, renewing management andimproving instruction related to the issues. School curricula will also berenewed and teacher quality will be improved.
Funding for the project will come from the Statebudget, businesses and other organisations.
The Ministry of Education and Training willchair the project in coordination with related ministries and sectors.-VNA
