Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has adopted a project on improving the resilience of vulnerable coastal communities to climate change-related impacts.

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hasadopted a project on improving the resilience of vulnerable coastal communitiesto climate change-related impacts.

Funded by the Green Climate Fund via the United NationsDevelopment Programme, the project will be carried out in Hanoi and thenorthern province of Nam Dinh, the central provinces of Thanh Hoa, ThuaThien-Hue, Quang Ngai, Quang Binh and Quang Nam, and the southernmost provinceof Ca Mau from 2017 to 2021 at a total cost of more than 41.79 million USD.

It will improve the resilience of local houses amid climatechange impacts, offer support to households in disaster-prone areas, increasecoverage and quality of mangrove forests, reduce gas emissions and increase biodiversity.

A system of information regarding natural disaster andclimate risks in support of decision-making and planning will also belaunched.-VNA
