Hanoi (VNA) – A joint project on increasing and upgrading border markers along the Vietnam – Laos border was reviewed at a conference in Hanoi on May 19, aiming to better the management of the border in the future.
The event was jointly organised by Vietnam ’s National Border Commission under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Head of the Commission’s Western Border Department Thai Xuan Dung, the project was jointly developed by Vietnam and Laos in 2004.

A number of agreements have been signed on demarcation and border management, contributing to developing the traditional friendship and special solidarity between the two nations, Dung said.
Vietnam and Laos share a border of about 2,340 km that runs across 10 Vietnamese provinces: Dien Bien, Son La, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam and Kon Tum.
