Paris (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received MathiasCormann, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation and DevelopmentOrganisation (OECD) in Paris on November 5 (local time) during his officialvisit to France.
The PM thanked OECD for close cooperation with Vietnam,especially in providing consultancy, policy recommendations, making economicreports to serve the planning of the country’s socio-economic development goals.
He proposed the OECD continue supporting Vietnam in post-pandemicsocio-economic recovery, consultancy on policies and resource mobilisation for inhigh-quality human resources development.
Chinh wished for the OECD’s continued support for the mobilisation of resources,particularly capital, technology, effective governance experience in order tohelp Vietnam perform restructuring and growth model transformation, andimplement commitments on greenhouse emission reduction at the COP26.
OECD Secretary General Cormann expressed his impression on Vietnam’s results incontrolling the pandemic as well as maintaining macro-economic stability andpositive economic momentum.
He welcomed Vietnam’s strong commitment on greenhouse emission reductionat COP26, saying it showed the country’s determination in joining hands torespond to challenges on climate change, while affirming the OECD’s pledge to accompanyVietnam in the process.
He stressed that Vietnam is the OECD’s important partner in Southeast Asia,wishing to closely cooperate with the country as well as other regional countriesin the coming time.
He underlined the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding onenhancing cooperation between Vietnam and the OECD for the 2022-26 period,saying it will create a framework for promoting bilateral collaboration inareas, especially in digital transformation, green growth, response to climatechange, completion of institutions, improvement of human resources quality.
Also at the meeting, the OECD official handed over to PM Chinh the OECD-freshlycompleted clean energy finance and investment policy review of Vietnam.
PM Chinh then witnessed the signing of the MoU on cooperation between Vietnamand the OECD for the 2022-26 period between Minister of Foreign Affairs BuiThanh Son and OECD Secretary General Mathis Cormann./.
