Beijing (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhang Dejiang in Beijing on September 12.

The two sides rejoiced at the positive development of the countries’ comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, with the regular exchange of high-ranking visits, particularly those made by the two Party General Secretaries in 2015.

PM Phuc, who is on an official visit to China, reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of prioritising the expansion of the friendly neighbourliness and comprehensive cooperation with China.

He welcomed a Vietnam visit to be paid by Zhang later this year to discuss cooperation enhancement between Vietnam’s National Assembly and the National People’s Congress of China, whose collaboration is of critical importance to reinforcing political trust and mutual understanding. He believes that their stronger parliamentary affiliation will actively help improve activities of each nation’s legislative bodies and perfect their law-governed socialist states as well as the Parties’ leadership over the respective States.

He said he hopes the two parliaments will continue increasing delegation exchanges at all levels, result-oriented cooperation, and information and experience sharing. They need to promote their role in supervising the implementation of agreements inked between the two Governments, while promoting the development of bilateral cooperation in a more substantive, stable, healthy and sustainable fashion.

The Vietnamese leader also wants the agencies to work more closely at inter-parliamentary forums in the region and the world and ensure the effectiveness and feasibility of international conventions.

For his part, Chairman Zhang affirmed that the Chinese Party, State and people have continually attaches importance to the solidification and expansion of amity and all-round cooperation with Vietnam.

He underlined that the two countries share many similarities as both are focusing on socio-economic development. The reinforcement of bilateral ties under the motto “friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, and looking towards the future” is in conformity with the interests of the two Parties, States and peoples.

He will lead a high-ranking delegation of the Chinese Party, Government and Congress to Vietnam in November, he noted, expressing his hope that during the visit, he and Vietnam’s senior leaders will continue discussing ways to further fortify the two parliaments’ cooperation.

The two sides will actively exchange experience in law-making and State management, thereby practically contributing to the countries’ comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, he assured.-VNA
