Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his entourage arrived in the Laocapital city of Vientiane on November 24, starting his visit toattend the 8 th Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Development TriangleSummit.
His participation aims to further cement the traditionalfriendship, special solidarity and comprehensive development with Laosand the all-round ties with Cambodia as well as foster the threecountries’ coordination in the implementation of joint programmes indefence, security and socio-economic development.
The CLVDevelopment Triangle is an important cooperation mechanism thatcontributes to the maintenance of political security, stability andsocial safety in border areas of the three countries.
The mechanism, along with simplified trade procedures, has helpedexpand trade exchange activities among localities. The three countries’GDP growth averaged 10 percent annually and their annual per capitaincome reached 1,340 USD.
During theNovember 24-25 summit, the leaders will review the implementation of themaster plan for socio-economic development of the CLV DevelopmentTriangle Area until 2020, and the memorandum of understanding on specialpreferential policies for the area.
Theywill also evaluate difficulties in the realisation of jointsocio-economic development programmes in the region, while mapping outfuture collaboration orientations.-VNA
