Vientiane(VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his spouse left Phnom Penh,Cambodia, early on April 26 for Vientiane, Laos, for an official visit at theinvitation of Prime Minister Thoonglun Sisoulith.

This is the first official visit to Laos since Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuctook office and it is an important diplomatic event to herald the Vietnam-LaosFriendship and Solidarity Year 2017.

The visit manifests Vietnam’s policy of attaching importance to reinforcing thetraditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Laosin an extensive, more practical and efficient manner.

The two countries are working to organize activities to celebrate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 40th anniversary of the signingof the Vietnam-Laos Treaty on Amity and Cooperation.

Prime MinisterNguyen Xuan Phuc is scheduled to hold talks with his Lao counterpart ThoonglunSisoulith, pay a courtesy visit to Party General Secretary and State President Bounnhang Volachith,and meet with National Assembly Chairwoman Pany Yathotou.

He will attend aceremony to launch the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2017 andother activities.-VNA
