Hanoi (VNA) - The ceremonyfor the first National Press Award on Natural Disaster Prevention and Controlwill be delayed until October due to the complicated developments of the COVID-19pandemic, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Preventionand Control has said.
According to the committee, the winners will be announced in due course.
Themed “Mitigation of losses due to natural disasters - Proactive adaptationto climate change starting from the community”, the awards were jointlylaunched in October last year by the committee, the Ministry of Information andCommunications, the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, and the UN DevelopmentProgramme.
It aims to honour and reward collectives and individualswho make practical contributions to communications on disaster prevention andcontrol, and raise a sense of responsibility among organisations andindividuals in their work.
Organisers said they had received 939 entriesfrom print newspapers, e-newspapers, radio, television and press photos whichwere published between January 1, 2019 and March 31, 2020.
The event was initiallyslated for May on the occasion of the National Week for Disaster Prevention andControl./.
