The President made the request at a working session with representatives of theAPEC 2017 National Committee, the Government Office, the Ministries of ForeignAffairs, and Culture, Sports and Tourism, and relevant agencies.
In that spirit, the ministries of National Defence and Public Security, andother concerned ministries, agencies and localities were asked to completesecurity plans and continue to conduct exercises.
Due attention also should be paid to preventive medicine, medical humanresources and facilities, as well as food hygiene, he said.
Of note, the content and organisation of the event should be based onobjectives, requirements and mottos set earlier, the President said.
He requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to host and closely coordinatewith other relevant ministries, agencies and localities to make thoroughpreparations in terms of the agenda and activities of leaders of APEC economies.
The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) was urged to team up withthe ministries of Foreign Affairs, Planning and Investment, and Industry andTrade to prepare pragmatic and concrete cooperation contents in order toattract the participation of firms and localities in the APEC Enterprise Summitand the Vietnam Business Summit.
The President highlighted the importance of information and communications workin an effort to raise public awareness of APEC Year 2017 and the APEC EconomicLeaders’ Week, encouraging them to contribute to promoting the land and peopleof Vietnam to international friends.
The leader stressed that APEC Year 2017 is the centre of Vietnam’s externalactivities as well as the country’s strategy to integrate more intensively andextensively into the world while improving the efficiency of multilateraldiplomacy.
He hailed efforts of the ministries, agencies and localities in successfullyorganising four ministerial-level meetings and four senior officials’ meetings (SOM)with nearly 200 meetings over the past time.
These good results create an important foundation for the organisation of theAPEC Economic Leaders’ Week, he said.-VNA
