Hanoi(VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang has sent a letter to thank President VladimirPutin, the Government, and people of Russia for their prompt and valuable aidsent to the Vietnamese people affected by typhoon Damrey.
On November 7, theRussian President instructed the Government of Russia to provide an emergency aidworth five million USD to help Vietnam recover from the severe damage caused bystorm Damrey in the central region.
On November 8, anaircraft of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Affairs for CivilDefence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasterslanded Cam Ranh airport in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa withrelief goods for the storm victims.
According to theNational Committee for Search and Rescue, storm Damrey hit Vietnam on November4. Following downpours and floods had claimed 89 lives and left 18 missing and174 others injured in central and Central Highlands localities as of November 7night.-VNA
