Hanoi(VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang had a meeting in Hanoi on November 22 with adelegation of Lao people who supported Vietnamese soldiers in performinginternational missions in Laos during the resistance wars.

The State leader saidthat the Party, State and people of Vietnam always keep in mind the great helpthat the Lao people gave to Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts duringthe struggles for liberation in both Vietnam and Laos.

He showed his hopethat the delegates will continue making contributions to consolidating andstrengthening the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensivecooperation between the two nations.

He hailed the twocountries’ friendship associations’ organizing of visits to the old battlefieldsin Laos for Vietnamese veterans during which they met with Lao people who hadhelped them during the wartime, saying that such visits are meaningful andreflect great gratitude to those who devoted to the revolutions of Vietnam andLaos.

President Quang suggestedthe two sides hold diverse activities to mark the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year2017, including a Laos-Vietnam people’s friendship festival in Laos and thepublishing of a bilingual book entitled “Chung day Truong Son” (Sharing TruongSon range).

He stressed that the Vietnam-Laosspecial friendship and cooperation, founded by Presidents Ho Chi Minh andKaysone Phomvihane and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the twocountries, played an important role in the success of the past struggles fornational independence as well as the current national construction and defencein both countries.

On the occasion of the42nd National Day of Laos, President Tran Dai Quang sent greetingsto leaders of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), State and people ofLaos, wishing that Laos will successfully implement the resolution adopted atthe 10th Congress of the LPRP to make the country moreprosperous.-VNA
