State President Nguyen Minh Triet visited the headquarters of MilitaryZone 7 on December 3, during which he commended the zone for itsdevelopment and contribution to maintaining political security andsocial order.
The development of the military zone has also helped to defeat any hostile forces or conspiracies, he said.
Thezone which covers nine provinces and cities in the southeastern region,including Ho Chi Minh City and part of the southwestern and CentralHighlands is a strategic area with great potential to develop thecountry’s socio-economics. It needs to work closely with theselocalities to ensure a well defended area and uphold the strength ofwhole political system to protect the nation.
LieutenantGeneral Trieu Xuan Hoa, the military zone’s Commander, reported thatthe military zone has, during its 65 year history, fulfilled all itsduties, which has contributed greatly to the national construction anddefence.
The zone has combined developing the country’sdefence with the socio-economy and has helped to upgrade localinfrastructures in various localities in its area , he said./.
