President Nguyen Xuan Phuc meets with OVs in Russia (Photo: VNA)Hanoi (VNA) – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a meeting with representativesof the Vietnamese community in Russia on December 2 as part of activities inhis official visits to the country.
During the meeting, the President expressed his joy when the Vietnamese community in Russia hasovercome the most difficult period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He highlyappreciated the support and contributions of Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Russiafor people in the homeland amid the health crisis.
The President also acknowledged recommendations of the OVs and promised to makedecisions in order to facilitate their return to Vietnam in the new situation.
He suggestedVietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi take measures to take bettercare of the community amid difficulties caused by the pandemic, expressing hisbelief that the Vietnamese community in Russia will continue to maintainvaluable traditions of the Vietnamese people.
Onthe occasion, President Phuc witnessed the hand-over ceremony of symbolic keysof three UAZ vehicles as the gift of the Association of Vietnamese People inRussia to the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence to serve rescue work.
Presidentof the Association of Vietnamese People in Russia Do Xuan Hoang affirmed PresidentPhuc’s visit to Russia will create a new impulse to lift the bilateral relations betweenthe two countries to new heights, saying that the strengthening ofVietnam-Russia relations plays a very important role in facilitate theoperation of the Vietnamese community in Russia.
There are about 80,000 Vietnamese people living,studying and working in Russia. They have stable lives with increasing legaland social status. In the last two years, despite many difficulties and lossesdue to the COVID-19 pandemic, the community has made great efforts to overcomedifficulties during the pandemic, and donated to help flood victims and thoseaffected by COVID-19 in the homeland.
Later the same day, the Vietnamese President left the Vnukovo InternationalAirport in Moscow for home, successfully ending his official visitto Russia at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin./.
