Hanoi (VNA) – The President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi will reopenfor visitors from August 16 after the temporary closure for annual maintenanceand renovation in 2018, according to the mausoleum’s Management Board.
In its statement, the board said that the adjacent Monument to Heroic Martyrswill also reopen from the same day.
The sites were closed for annual maintenance and renovation from June 15 toAugust 15.
The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is an important landmark of Hanoi capital city andstands integrated to the political and social history of Vietnam.
After his death on September 2, 1969, President Ho Chi Minh was embalmed andput for view in this granite mausoleum. The mausoleum, modelled after Lenin'stomb in Moscow, was built in two years, from 1973 to 1975, with materialsdonated by people from all over the country.
The mausoleum welcomed nearly 51,000 visitors, including 11,500 foreignersduring holidays in celebration of the 43rd National Reunification Day (April30) and International Workers’ Day (May 1) this year.-VNA
