Poor workers in central Phu Yen province get Tet gifts

As many as 200 gift packages worth 1,250,000 VND each were delivered to disadvantaged workers in the central province of Phu Yen on January 12 under a programme to support people in disadvantaged circumstances to have a warm Lunar New Year (Tet), which was held by Phu Yen Labour Confederation.

Phu Yen, (VNA) – As many as 200 gift packages worth 1,250,000 VND (55 USD) each were delivered to disadvantaged workers in the central province of Phu Yen on January 12 under a programme to support people in disadvantaged circumstances to have a warm Lunar New Year (Tet), which was held by Phu Yen Labour Confederation.

According to the confederation, the programme has received 547.5 million VND after launching for a month. The donations will be used to buy Tet presents for workers who suffer workplace-related accidents, those with fatal diseases as well as people who are on duty during Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.

Addressing the event, Nguyen Hoa Binh, Politburo member, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court, sent New Year greetings to all workers, labourers and their families. 

Binh emphasised that over the past time, the entire political system has taken care of the lives of workers in various ways, especially those who are vulnerable to the COVID-19 pandemic. He called on the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and local authorities to mobilise more resources to improve the lives of workers and the poor not only during Tet but also in a regular and continuous manner. 

The Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front also handed over 20 gifts, each worth 1.2 million VND to poor households on the occasion.

Previously, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court visited and gave Tet gifts to the armed forces of Phu Yen province and some policy beneficiary families./.
