Poor OVs, Cambodians get free medical check-ups

The Association of Vietnamese in Cambodia, the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA)’s HCM City branch and Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine on January 24 provided free medical check-ups and gifts for 500 poor OVs and Cambodian people living in Phnom Penh.

This is an annual activity held by the HCMCity authorities to help poor OVs and Cambodian people enjoy a happyLunar New Year, said Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of COVA’s HCMCity branch.

It also aims to promote the friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia, she added.

Vice Mayor of Phnom Penh’s Chbar Ampov Tek Chani spoke highly ofVietnamese organisations and businesses’ kind-hearted action,considering it a symbol of the friendship and attachment between the twocountries.

She said she hopes that Vietnam’s voluntarygroups will continue their humanitarian activities to support poorpeople in Cambodia.

Over the years, Vietnamesevoluntary doctors have conducted a number of visits to deliver freemedical check-ups and surgery for the Cambodian poor.-VNA

Hanoi tightens control, prevention of monkeypox
