Poor workers, households and children nationwide have received financial support to welcome the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

Hanoi (VNA) – Poorworkers, households and children nationwide have received financial support to welcomethe upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

The northern port city of Hai Phongearmarked 1.2 billion VND (540,000 USD) for assisting poor workers in thelocality.

The Hai Phong economic zonepresented gifts to 3,618 workers and 40 free rides to their homes in thecountryside on January 25-26.

On the occasion, its trade unionhosted an event gathering more than 3,600 workers from local industrial andeconomic zones.

In the central province of QuangTri, the State President’s gifts worth nearly 6.7 billion VND were handed overto 32,720 families of war heroes and policy beneficiaries.

The provincial authorities at alllevels offered gifts worth around 895 million VND (40,680 USD) to 4,355 familiesof policy beneficiaries and residents living in need, and nearly 1,486 tonnesof rice to 31,363 families in specially disadvantaged circumstances. 

Philanthropists and businessesalso donated 35,430 gifts totalling 15 billion VND (681,000 USD) to local poorhouseholds.

On January 22, more than 2,000children living in difficulty met at an event held by the Ho Chi Minh Citychapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

They were treated with musicperformances and gifts./.
