The figures were reported at a conference on Dec. 21 which reviewed the 2011 programme.
The programme raised a total of 41.2 billion VND from a SMS donation campaign and international aid.
Speaking at the conference, Vice President and General Secretary ofthe Vietnam Red Cross Doan Van Thai said the cows were in good conditionand ready to generate income for the families, helping them reducepoverty. After handing over the cows to beneficiaries, the Red Cross hascoordinated with other agencies to give rearing directions torecipients, ensuring the best development of the cows.
The SMS donation campaign has made a significant contribution to the “Cow bank” programme and will be continued in 2012./.
