Party Politburo member Dinh The Huynh visited the Vietnam Journalists’Association (VJA), the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Tien Phong(Vanguard) and Lao Dong (Labour) newspapers in Hanoi on June 20.

The visits took place on the occasion of the 87 th anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day (June 21).

During the visits, Huynh, who is also the Head of the Party CentralCommittee’s Commission for Popularisation and Education, congratulatedjournalists nationwide, media agencies and generations of Vietnamesejournalists for their praiseworthy contributions to nationalconstruction and development.

He highlighted theefforts of the country’s press agencies to provide timely information onthe Party’s policies and State’s laws, saying that the press is aninformation channel and the forum of the people , reflecting theirdesire and creativeness.

He said that during theinformation boom and with the rapid introduction of new technologies,press agencies need to be staffed by journalists with a sound politicalideology, professional ethics and expertise in their work and who raisetheir levels of responsibility in fighting negative phenomena,wastefulness and corruption and degradations in political ideology andlifestyles.

While visiting the VNA, Huynh praised the agency for its contributions to national construction and development.

He said the VNA has promoted its role and its responsibility as animportant and reliable strategic news agency of the Party and State byproviding up to date, accurate and diverse information.

The agency has also been successful when providing foreign newsservices and has comprehensively overhauled its press and publishingoperations, he added./.
