Beijing (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s attendance atthe 15th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting of the New Champions in China’s Dailian city next week will bring opportunities for Vietnam’s economic integration, said Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai.

At an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency ahead the PM’s trip from June 24-27, the ambassador said the fact that the Vietnamese government leader has been invited to the event for two consecutive years demonstrates the appreciation of the WEF and the international business community for Vietnam’s role in and its contributions to global and regional economic development.

He pointed out the significance of the PM’s attendance. Firstly, the meetings between the PM with leaders, policymakers and the global business community at the WEF will open up opportunities for Vietnam’s economic integration. This is also a chance for Vietnam to tell the world about its outstanding socio-economic development achievements over the past time, promote the image of a dynamic Vietnam that is actively integrating into the world and becoming an attractive destination for global corporations, thereby promoting mutually beneficial cooperation and attracting resources for the country’s development.

Secondly, through the WEF, Vietnam can grasp new issues and trends in the world economy; exchange views on development mindsets and governance at national and global levels; contribute to handling common world problems such as promoting economic growth, developing new industries, responding to climate change, and ensuring food security, he said.

Thirdly, this is also an opportunity for Vietnam to increase exchanges and promote relations with other countries, partners, and international organisations, further enhance the country's position and prestige, and affirm its role as an active and responsible member of the international community, contributing to the effective implementation of the foreign policy policy set at the 13th National Party Congress, he went on.

Fourthly, the participation of PM Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation will continue to promote cooperation and partnerships with the WEF and its members in such fields as green transition, digital transformation, energy and science-technology, Mai added.

The PM will hold talks and bilateral meetings with high-ranking leaders of China, which play an important role in enhancing political trust and materialising common perceptions and high-level agreements between the two sides.

Notably, he will deliver a special speech at the opening session, together with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and other foreign leaders. The Vietnamese leader will also make remarks at sessions and chair dialogues with businesses./.
