Beijing (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked China Railway Sixth Group Co. Ltd, the main contractor of Hanoi’s Cat Linh-Ha Dong railway project, to promptly address existing problems to ensure the project’s scheduled progress.

The PM met with Ma Jiangqian, General Director of the Chinese company, in Beijing on September 13 while on an official visit to China.

He said as a big and prestigious State-owned enterprise, China Railway Sixth Group Co. Ltd. should be aware of its responsibility and act immediately to deal with the delay in carrying out the project.

The slow construction has seriously affected the daily activities and traffic in Hanoi, and caused dissatisfaction among the public, he said, noting that some accidents happened during the project implementation and killed several victims.

The Vietnamese PM told the Chinese company to coordinate with Vietnamese partners to ensure absolute construction safety. He also promised to convey the firm’s proposals to relevant ministries and Hanoi authorities for consideration.

Ma Jiangqian reported to the PM difficulties relating to the Cat Linh-Ha Dong railway project. He submitted proposals relating to the project and vowed to complete the basic construction work by the end of December 2016.

The executive said the company will strive to put the railway on trial run in July 2017 and start official operation two months later.

Also on September 13, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc received Zhao Hongjing, Deputy General Director of Huaxia Xingfu Co. Ltd – a business with infrastructure-related activities.

He applauded the cooperation between Huaxia Xingfu and Vietnamese localities, noting that he hopes the firm will make infective investment in Vietnam.

Zhao said the company provides comprehensive solutions for socio-economic development through public-private partnership in such spheres as infrastructure, industrial park and high-speed rail.

He expressed the belief in Vietnam’s potential and development prospects and wanted to boost investment in the country in the time ahead.-VNA
