Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired the government’sregular meeting in Hanoi on December 1, during which he urged cabinet members towell perform their promises to the National Assembly and voters as well as theNA’s resolutions.
Despitepositive socio-economic achievements in the January-November period, PM Phucwarned that ministries, sectors and localities should not feel satisfied, but mustcontinue implementing their tasks better, such as addressing consequencescaused by floods and storms, and public investment disbursement.
Underliningthe importance of addressing post-flood consequences, the PM noted that drasticand comprehensive actions are needed in December 2017 and early 2018, with a focusplaced on administrative procedure reform and effectiveness of law enforcement.
Theleader requested cabinet members to make greater efforts to complete thesocio-economic tasks and targets in 2018; stablise the macro economy;restructure the economy in tandem with renewing the growth model; improve quality,productivity, and competitiveness; and encourage innovation, startups andbusiness development and economic growth.
PMPhuc stressed the need to intensify the fight against corruption, wastefulnessand negative phenomena; focus more on social and cultural development; promote socialequality and improve people’s living conditions; protect the environment andadapt to climate change; strengthen national defence and security; and enhancethe effectiveness of external affairs and international integration.
ThePM asked the State Bank of Vietnam to keep a close watch on the currency,credit, interest and exchange rate market to make timely adjustments.
Henoted that the electricity price increase has little influence on the CPI,requesting relevant sectors to closely follow prices and the market, ensure sufficientsupply of goods and services particularly during the year end month and NewYear (Tet) holidays.
PMPhuc requested ministries, sectors and localities to strictly implement theroadmap for divestment at state-owned enterprises, especially at Sabeco, Habecoand other major businesses.
ThePM asked the Ministry of Public Security to investigate and seriously settlerecent children abusing cases.-VNA
