PM urges all people’s involvement in sovereignty protection

The Prime Minister on January 9 issued a directive calling on the entire political system, agencies at all levels and the masses to join efforts to manage and safeguard the nation’s territorial sovereignty and border security.

Under Directive 01/CT-TTg, the Governmentleader requested the People’s Committees of border and coastal citiesand provinces to coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front CentralCommittee , the Ministry of National Defence (MoND ) and theMinistry of Public Security (MoPS) to organise the movementamong strata of people.

He also called on each household andindividual to voluntarily engage in the protection of the territorialsovereignty and ensuring security and order in border areas.

TheMoND was urged to direct the Border Guard , the Coast Guard , and theNavy to join the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development infacilitating offshore fishing and offering rescue services in orderto defend the national sea and island sovereignty.

TheMinistry of Information and Communications will work with the MoND andthe Ministry of Foreign Affairs to make regular and long-term plans toraise public awareness of the national land and sea sovereignty via massmedia at home and abroad.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Educationand Training will collaborate with the MoND and the MoPS to include theissue of national territorial sovereignty protection in curricula atall-level schools.

Over the past year, various self-managementmodels established at grass-root levels have proven effective,contributing to maintaining the national security and social orderin border areas .

The country currently has more than 3,500borderline and marker management groups, nearly 2,000 groups to ensuresafety for vessels, among others.-VNA
