Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinhlanded at Prestwick airport on October 31 morning (local time), starting his trip forthe 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of theParties (COP26) and a working visit to the UK at the invitation of hiscounterpart Boris Johnson.
During his stay from October 31 to November 3, the leader isscheduled to address the conference and have bilateral meetings with leaders ofcountries, international organisations and funds, and others.
His participation in theconference will extend a strong message on a responsible, proactive and activeVietnam that is joining hands with the international community in settlingglobal challenges on climate change; and demonstrates determination, efforts aswell as difficulties and challenges facing Vietnam in coping with thephenomenon.
The PM’s visit to the UKwill help consolidate the political trusts and further deepen multi-facetedcooperation; thus making the bilateral relations become more practical andeffective.
The Vietnam-UK strategicpartnership have, over the recent past, developed strongly and positively. Inthe context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two countries have still maintainedthe exchange of high-level delegations and contacts.
The UK is now Vietnam’sthird largest export market in Europe, and its13th largest foreign investor./.
