Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has required the Government to renew management work and address the shortcomings that have been revealed by the National Assembly and the people.

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hasrequired the Government to renew management work and address the shortcomingsthat have been revealed by the National Assembly and the people.

The PM made the request at the monthly government meetingthat opened in Hanoi on December 3. The focuses of the meeting are thesocio-economic development in the January-November period and the government’sdraft resolution on key tasks and measures for 2019 (Resolution 01/CP).

“Resolution 01/CP must be imbued with the spirit of reform,”PM Phuc said. He urged government members to offer their opinions on thisimportant document.

He also called attention to several urgent issues related topeople’s petitions and complaints. In connection with the work, the PM announceda decision to establish a special working group led by Deputy Prime MinisterTruong Hoa Binh to deal with issues of public concern.

About preparations for the upcoming Lunar New Year festival,which is nearly two months away, PM Phuc instructed ensuring sufficient powersupply and intensifying prevention of African swine fever, and cracking down onloan sharks.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, themacroeconomic situation remained stable since the beginning of the year. The consumerprice index in November fell by 0.29 percent, the lowest in nine months. Tradesurplus hit 6.8 billion USD while there were over 121,000 newly-establishedfirms with a total registered capital of 3.4 quadrillion VND (146.2 billionUSD) during the 11-month period while nearly 32,000 enterprises resumed theiroperations. More than 14 million foreign tourists arrived in Vietnam in thepast 11 months, up 21.3 percent.

Cabinet members also gave their opinions on the allocationof capital allocation for the construction of the north-south highway, and theinspection outcomes of the PM’s working group in November, among other issues.-VNA
